We recently returned from a weekend adventure with the Bruening fam. My relatives from Michigan came out to Utah, and Grandma and Grandpa took everyone to Southern Utah for some ruckus!
Before I begin, let me tell you about Bruening vacations in general. When we vacation, there is an itinerary involved; and we follow it, hour by hour. Every day is packed from 7 AM until late evening. We don’t waste a minute. Some would say that we need a vacation after these vacations to recuperate. That is kind of true, but it is still fun.
The adventure began when Scott and I picked up Arnold (Brooke) and drove to Panguitch, where we stayed for the night. (The title of this post is just a joke—I wanted to write that on our car, but Scott didn’t let me.) We drove safely for most of the trip except when we missed hitting a deer by about 4 inches. We are ok though, and the SAAB is also. Phew! Panguitch is…interesting and just as ghetto as it sounds. It was a good place to stop for the night though. We reunited with the family members, and after redeeming our cheese curds from my family’s stop at the Beaver Cheese Factory Outlet (I am so amused by the existence of that place), we headed to bed at a luxurious motel in order to rest up for the next jam-packed day.
On Friday, everyone rented ATV’s and hiked through Bryce Canyon. It’s beautiful there and we had a lot of fun. I had to scream like a banshee once while Scott drove our ATV because he was trying to break 50 mph on a clearly dangerous man-made dirt path; but other than that, it was great.
Next came a trip to St. George, where we saw The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. The play had incredible special effects and an Ursula that made me want to gain weight and tentacles. She was the coolest.
What a good trip. We love the Bruenings.
